I’m liking the poems that are optimistic, flattering and generally looking at the brighter side of things. It makes me feel good that other people are putting good vibes out there. And so I want to share them with you. I give these both an A.

In the spirit of being optimistic, today I took a mental inventory of all the ways I’m saving money because I’m staying home. These are just some of the things I’m not buying:
- Dry shampoo, makeup remover, pretty much all cosmetics. Not wearing any makeup. Not buying any makeup. It’s fine.
- Haircuts. TBH I’m a Great Clips gal myself, so it’s not a huge chunk of change, but I’m saving that $24.95 all the same.
- Flights, gas, tickets, all expenses related to entertainment and travel in general. This makes me sad.
- Gym membership. Which is devastating. I miss my gym so very much.
Things I’m definitely still spending money on:
- Booze. Obviously.
- Groceries, also obviously. In fact it seems I’m spending a lot more on food in general. I’ve had some boredom baking experiments go very wrong which was a sad waste of money. But more importantly, I’m getting carry-out on a very regular basis to try and support some of my local favs.
- Donating to NNAF, Yellow Hammer Fund, BAF, and all other social justice orgs helping folks access abortion funds because abortion is essential health care even in, and especially during, a pandemic.
- Cat food. This creature is so utterly indifferent to my situation and humanity in general. Frankly it’s admirable. She still eats, naps and shits, in that order all day, every day.
Tomorrow I pledge to be more like my cat. Find a ray of sunshine and just sit in it for a while.
